Virginia C. Greer

Virginia C. Greer, age 75 of Fairborn, passed away Friday February 3, 2023 at the Soin Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.  She was born October 24, 1947 in Appomattox, Virginia, the daughter of the late Samuel R., Sr. and Gracie (Gilbert) Coleman.

Virginia was employed with the City of Centerville, retiring in 2014.  She was proud to be a country girl from Appomattox, no matter where in the world she was, her heart was always there. She was a loving spouse, and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Virginia was known for her affinity for Dr. Pepper, travelling, farmer’s markets, Tom Selleck and the Statler Brothers. Her love language was food, filling souls as well as bellies. She loved collecting duck figurines, cardinals and nativity scenes.

The family would like to thank the staff at Soin Hospital for the care of Virginia. Especially, the ICU and Intermediate Care Unit, Dr. Norbu and his staff and all nurses and staff on the 3rd and 5th floors. They gave her and her family great care and compassion at their most difficult time.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Braxton and Samuel, Jr.; an infant sibling; and her great aunt, Annie Webb.  Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Edward R. Greer, Jr.; four children, Jeff (Shay) Greer of Fairborn, Angela (Mark) Pearson of Medway, Jennifer Greer of Yellow Spring, WV, George Greer of Centerville; six grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; as well as many friends.

A celebration of life gathering will be held by the family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fairborn FISH food pantry.
