Phil Oakley, age 84 of Fairborn, passed away Sunday January 23, 2022 at Soin Medical Center. He was born September 12, 1937 in West Liberty, Kentucky, the son of Glen and Goldie (Smith) Oakley.
Phil began his law enforcement career at the Clark County Sheriff’s office and went on for the majority of his employment with the Greene County Sheriff’s office, retiring after 36 years of public service. A familiar face in the community, Phil could be found at numerous events throughout the year and he always enjoyed Fairborn’s 4th of July parade. Not one to sit still for long, he enjoyed long walks, always making sure his car was spotless, and most of all, spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Adrian Watkins. Phil is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy; five siblings, Ron (Patty Ann) Oakley, Hazel Watkins, Jerry (Lola) Oakley, Dale (Linda) Oakley, Glenda (Roy) Ford; as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive friends on Sunday January 30, 2022 from 12:00 until 2:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, where a funeral will be held on Monday January 31, 2022 at 10:00 A.M., Pastor Ken Majors officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery.
