Melody Ann Jones, age 68 of Fairborn, left this Earth on July 15, 2023. This wasn't the plan, but she must have gotten an invitation to the large party she always talked about. The party was attended by all of our friends and family who have gone before us. Melody was born May 3rd, 1955, in Dayton, to Robert Allen and Betty Jane (Shearer) Jones. She was a middle child and only sister of Jeffrey A. and Steven L. Jones. She loved her family and was always proud to tell people that she was the daughter of a Firefighter.
Melody is survived by her daughter, Michelle Jones; her mother, Betty; brothers, Jeff and Steve; sisters-in-law, Lynda and Tammi; 3 nieces, a nephew and 3 great nephews who she was very proud of; and her best and most cherished friend, Lisa Adamson. She was preceded in death by her father, "Jonesy”; her niece, Heather Jones and many aunts, uncles and close friends including Michelle's Dad, Mike Manning. I know they were all there to welcome her with excitement and open arms.
Melody was the best Mom and never missed an opportunity to throw parties for birthdays and holidays with decorations, games, and lots of love. She spent her life helping everyone she could even if she had to sacrifice something for herself. Helping care for many of her daughter's friends along the way. She worked many different jobs and was always happy to learn something new from drywall and painting to landscaping and bartending. Many years she grew a large garden and taught herself how to can tomatoes, green beans, also making salsa and pickles. She taught herself how to knit socks, keeping the feet of family and friends warm for many years.
Melody had many happy memories spending time along the Gulf coast of Florida, in Destin, Perdido Key and New Orleans. She brought back many seashells, sand dollars, a sharks fin and trinkets from Mardi Gras. She loved music and went to over 300 concerts. Many times we joked that Keith Richards would outlive us all and so far we're right. Her final moments were filled with music and love and peace.
A graveside service will be held on Friday July 21, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at the Fairfield Cemetery, 720 Clover St., Fairborn, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating.
In lieu of flowers find something kind to do for someone who needs their spirits lifted or help with clothing or a meal. She would appreciate that.
