Martha Brown

Martha (Walker) Brown, age 91 of Fairborn, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Thursday January 20th, 2022 surrounded by loved ones. Martha was born on May 9th, 1930 in Walkertown (Hazard) Kentucky to the late Russell Walker and Ollie (Blanton) Walker. She was a beloved wife, mother, mamaw, great grandma, and friend. She was loved by all who knew her.

Martha spent her childhood growing up in Walkertown (Hazard) Kentucky, she met Charles Brown at church and they were married on the 11th of September 1948 in Kentucky. They moved to Ohio in 1955. They had eight children, sixteen grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren.

Martha spent her life taking care of her family and providing a home full of love where family was always welcome. She loved when her home was filled with the people she loved most. Martha loved the Lord and going to church, she attended International Faith Church and Gates of Praise Church, both in Fairborn. You could always find her singing her gospel songs around the house or watching her preachers on tv. For over thirty years, she was a volunteer at the Fairborn Community Center in Wrightview, she helped organize the Fairborn Christmas toy drive there for many years and made a difference for so many local children. She loved the time she spent there.

Martha loved being outside, she loved planting her flowers and enjoyed just sitting out on her front porch. She loved to sew and she loved making things for her family. Her grandchildren have fond memories of being at her house making crafts with her. She loved her family unconditionally.

Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Ollie (Blanton) Walker, Husband Charles Brown, infant son Larry Brown, Grandson Jeffery Kohler, her brothers Paul, Millard, Woodrow, Bob, Harmon, and JC, and her sisters Mary and Florence.

Martha is survived by seven of her children, Connie (Larry) Kohler, Faye (Kenneth) Smith, Roger (Connie) Brown, Joe Brown, Pam (Steve) Ison, Debbie (Randall) Ison, Kenny (Darlinda) Brown, Grandchildren Ronnie Smith, Larrylee Kohler, Chrissy (Brown) Teel, Regina (Smith) Rowe, Mandy (Brown) Hollon, Veronica Ison, Mark Smith, Steven Ison, Bryon Stacy, Sarah Brown, Kimberly Ison, Brandon Stacy, Brad Stacy, Jess (Brown) Darby, and Kristen (Brown) Lawhorn, their spouses and 26 great grandchildren.

Martha’s services will be on Friday January 28th at Belton-Stroup Funeral Home at 422 E. Dayton Yellow Springs Road in Fairborn. Reverend Gordon Kilburn will be officiating. Family will receive guests starting at 12pm and the funeral will begin at 1pm. The burial will follow at Byron Cemetery in Fairborn.
