Margaret V. Carlson

Margaret V. CARLSON, age 101 of Fairborn, Ohio passed away, Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Hospice of Dayton. A resident of Fairborn since 1966, she was born May 16, 1922 in Creston, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Rose (Davis) Fils.  She was serving as a secretary to the State Treasurer of Iowa when she married her husband Robert in 1947. She was proud of her role as an Air Force wife and supported her husband’s military career during his thirty years of service. She was a member and Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Fairborn and the Senior Citizens Association. For many years she served as a Red Cross volunteer at the USAF Medical Center, Wright Patterson AFB.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert of 69 years; parents, brothers, Richard Fils, William Fils; infant son, Michael; sons, John (Sandra) Carlson, Steven Carlson; granddaughter, Susan Carlson.
She is survived by two sons, James Carlson, Mark (Kathy) Carlson; daughter-in-law, Deborah; four grandchildren, Jesse Carlson, Jamie Carlson, Lindsey (Jared) Carlson Bologna, Michael (Sarah) Carlson; three great-granddaughters, Kaia Bologna, Shylo Bologna, Josie Carlson; great-grandson, Ellis Carlson; step- granddaughter, Jessica Tudor; two step-great-grandchildren, Morgan, Trevor; step great-great-granddaughter, Shyla, sister-in-law, Marilyn Fils; nieces, nephews, and other special family and friends.

A private graveside service will be held Friday, July 28, 2023, at Byron Cemetery, 3256 Trebein Road, Fairborn, 45324. Remembrances may be made in her name to the First Presbyterian Church, Fairborn. Arrangements in care of Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, Fairborn.
