William F. Jones, age 93 of Fairborn, passed away Friday February 19, 2021 at the Hospice of Dayton. He was born September 24, 1927 in Hillsboro, Ohio, the son of the late Dr. William E. and V. Maurine (Barrett) Jones. Bill served his country in the US Navy at the end of World War II and followed with employment in civil service at Wright-Patterson AFB, retiring after over 42 years of combined federal service. His lifelong passion was to be an extension of the church and servant of God. He spent Sunday afternoons ministering to shut-ins and during the week he went into homes to teach the bible and the love of Jesus to others. His hobbies included reading, his dogs, Nascar, and caring for his grandchildren. Bill and his wife had an enduring group of friends who they shared life with for over 50 years and had many fond memories with. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary Ellen in 2016; a grandson, Robert “Bobby” Higgins; and a brother, Norman E. Jones. Survivors include his daughter, Jacqueline (Jim) Marks; granddaughter, Krista (Brandon) Boggs; great-grandchildren, Meaira, Jayvan, and Braxden Boggs; and a brother-in-law, John (Susan) Umpleby. A service and celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton. Arrangements in care of Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, Fairborn.
