Willard E. “Bill” Blackmore, age 92 of Fairborn, passed away Saturday March 5, 2022. He was born September 6, 1929 in Hillsboro, Ohio, the son of the late Henry H. and Opal (Martin) Blackmore.
Bill served his country in the United States Army during Korea and followed with employment in civil service at Wright-Patterson AFB as a logistics officer, retiring after many years of service. He was a member of the Living Word Church in Vandalia.
Outside of Bill’s commitment to his country and church Bill also was an avid sportsman; serving as a referee for many youth basketball games, played in several area softball leagues, and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Blackmore in 2009; daughter, Sandra Blackmore Saphire; son, Robert P. Bond Jr.; brother, Dale Blackmore; and sisters, Lillian Stephens and Leola Cargell. He is survived by six children, Jerry Bond, Charles “Hank” Bond, Billie Jean Blackmore, Joy Bond, Melissa Stoddard, Beth Ann Blackmore; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great granddaughter; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
A funeral service will be held on Friday March 11, 2022 at 12:00 noon at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E Dayton Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Dr. Patrick Murray officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial with military honors will follow at Byron Cemetery, Fairborn.
