Wilbur Vernon Carpenter

Wilbur Vernon Carpenter, age 83 of Fairborn, (formerly West Liberty, KY; Hillsboro, OH) passed away peacefully, in the comfort of family, at home. Wilbur was born September 24, 1939, the son of the late Dellie F. and Dora F. (Hale) Carpenter, in Dehart, Kentucky.

Wilbur was a devoted father, grandpa, brother, and companion. He spent his formative years in West Liberty then began a career and started a family in Fairborn. There he was employed as a cement finisher for more than 30 years. Bluegrass music was truly Wilbur’s first love in which he played the acoustic guitar with a well-known passion. In addition, he was as fervent member of the Blue Grass Association where he entertained the masses for 60 years. Lastly, Wilbur enjoyed his leisure time fishing with family and close friends.

Wilbur is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters, loving companion of 30 years, Pauline Morgan; and grandson, Jeremy Robinson. He is survived by his children, Janie (Robbie) Robinson; Vernon Carpenter; Denise Emory; Larry Carpenter; brother, Frank (Coleen) Carpenter; grandchildren, James (Courtney) Robinson; Rachel Dailey; Amy (Ryan) Hammock; Bobby (Victoria) Carpenter; Brian Emory; Lacy (Kyle) Arnold; Christian Carpenter; Curtis Carpenter; Tasha Childers; 20 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends.

A funeral service will be held Monday, September 11, 2023, at 12:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, OH 45324. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service, Rev. James (Robbie) Robinson officiating. Burial to follow at Medway Cemetery Association, Medway, OH.
