V. Elwood Fyffe, age 89 of Fairborn, passed away March 10, 2023 at Soin Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 1, 1933 in Dingus, Kentucky, the son of the late Oliver and Opal (Hamilton) Fyffe. Elwood served his country in the U.S. Army and followed with employment at General Motors, retiring after 36 years of service. He enjoyed deer hunting, bluegrass music, dancing, and singing. Elwood was a proud Kentucky Colonel and a UK Wildcats fan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, David Michael Hofferbert; eight siblings, Major, Melvin, Wilma Davis, Berlin, Edward, Belva Jones, Geneva Vinson, and James Darrell “JD”. Elwood is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Boggs) Fyffe; sister, Velma (Eugene) Haney; four children, Sheila (Jeffery) Muterspaw, Donella (James) Armstrong, Catherine (James) Clark, Tony (Tammy) Fyffe; eight grandchildren, Desirae (Joshua) Guy, Tracy (Matthew) Whited, Lisa (Patrick) McDermott, Adam Hurley, Bruce (Jade Bristol) Armstrong, Elizabeth (Justin) Jenks; Joshua (Lindsey) Maples, Haley Fyffe; ten great-grandchildren, Makayla, Chloe, Carter, Amelia, Hope, Corbin, Gabriel, Sebastian, Benjamin, Cole; granddaughter-in-law, Yuko Armstrong; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday March 15, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Burial will follow at Byron Cemetery.
