Usaf Smsgt. (Ret.) Ronald Dale Cumpston

USAF SMSgt. (Ret.) Ronald Dale Cumpston, age 81 of Fairborn, passed away Thursday March 28, 2024 at the Miami Valley Hospital.  He was born February 6, 1943 in Troy, West Virginia, the son of the late Leeman and Freda (Swiger) Cumpston.

Ron served his country in the U.S. Air Force in aircraft propulsion, retiring at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant, and followed with employment in civil service at Wright-Patterson AFB at NASIC (National Air and Space Intel Center) retiring after 40 years of combined federal service.  He was active and enjoyed being involved with the Maple Heights Baptist Church in Fairborn.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sonja; son, Wayne Cumpston; and two sisters, Bertha Lee Burch and Doris Imogene Weary.  Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Jackie; four children, Tammy Gail Cumpston, Denise Ann Cumpston, Rebecca Knight, Laura Senter; two brothers, Fred (Cherrie) Cumpston, Norman (Carolyn) Cumpston; as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

A funeral service will be held on Friday April 5, 2024 at 12:00 noon at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor Chris Tannreuther officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.  Burial with military honors will follow at the Byron Cemetery.
