Usaf Smsgt (Ret.) John C. Clelan

USAF SMSgt. (Ret.) John C. Clelan, age 78 of Fairborn, passed away Friday March 24, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born December 20, 1944 in Harrisburg, PA, the son of the late Melvin and Kathryn (Ross) Clelan.  John served his country in the USAF retiring at the rank of SMSgt and followed with employment in civil service, retiring in 2007 after 42 years of combined service.  He enjoyed bowling, vacationing with family and especially spending time with his grandkids.  John was an avid golfer and Penn State fan.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Karen DeMartyn; and stepfather, Paul “PW” Lininger.  John is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Connie; three sons, John (Cindy) Clelan, Brian (Christa) Clelan; James (Amanda) Pylate; eight grandchildren, sister, Lori (Paul) Kefover; two brothers, Paul Lininger, Gary (Marie) Lininger; as well as extended family and friends.  A memorial service will be held on Friday April 14, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Abiding Christ Lutheran Church, where he was a longtime member, 326 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor June Fryman officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.  If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Family Promise of Greene County, 124 S.
