USAF LtCol. (Ret.) Scott Vernon Miller, age 58 of Fairborn, passed away Wednesday September 2, 2020 at the Hospice of Dayton. He was born January 18, 1962 at Perrin AFB, Texas, the son of C.V. and Sandra (Becker) Miller. Scott grew up in an Air Force family and then earned his bachelor’s degree in 1984 from the Air Force Academy, and later his master’s degree from the Air Force Institute of Technology. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel; and followed with employment in civil service as a professor for the Defense Acquisition University, with currently over 37 years of combined federal service. Scott served as Past Master twice with Michael L. Finnell Lodge No. 711 F&AM, and also enjoyed keeping people smiling by performing magic with I.B.M. Rings 5 and 324 and S.A.M. Assembly 56. He is survived by his favorite wife of 32 years, Stephanie; son, Scott A. Miller; his favorite daughter, Sarah V. Miller (Chris McMaster); son, Samuel V. Miller, all of Fairborn; his parents of Florida; a sister, Linne' (Joe) Weinberger of Alaska; niece, Heidi; nephew, Shane; brother-in-law, Chris Moyer (Kelly Brunarski); as well as numerous other extended family and many friends. A service to celebrate Scott’s life will be held on Monday September 7, 2020 at 6:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service and they ask that masks please be worn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Dayton -or- Be The Match, operated by the bone marrow donor program, at BeTheMatch.org.
