USAF Maj. (Ret.) William L. Nolte, age 81 of Fairborn, passed away March 17, 2025. He was born July 18, 1943 in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of the late Waldemar and Gertrude (Vogel) Nolte.
William served his country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam and retired at the rank of Major in 1987. Following his active service he was employed in civil service at Wright-Patterson AFB as a systems engineer, retiring in 2013 after over 45 years of combined federal service. He drank a lot of coffee. His memberships included Mary, Help of Christians Catholic Church, Ohio Society of Professional Engineers, and Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Jeanette; two children, Jason Nolte, Tracy Nolte (Michelle Engling); four grandchildren, Levi, Daniel, Alice, Benjamin; seven siblings, Margaret Drescher, Jerry Nolte (Betty), Ruth Geiman, John Nolte (Cheryl), Annette Thorson, Carol Strenge (Dave), Doris Winkle (Tim); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family, friends, and stuffed penguins.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday March 27, 2025 at 11:30 A.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Deacon Max Roadruck officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at the Dayton National Cemetery.
