USAF CMSgt (Ret.) Dennis O. Hindson, age 68 of Fairborn, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday December 18, 2017. He was born March 2, 1949 in St. Clair, MI, the son of the late Lawrence and Rosemary (Steinmetz) Hindson. Denny served his country in Thailand during Vietnam in the U.S. Air Force with aircraft maintenance, retiring at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant; and followed with employment in civil service at Wright-Patterson AFB, retiring after a combined 50 years of federal service. He was a member of the Byron Church in Fairborn where he was active with Vacation Bible School, and a member of the Knights of Columbus in MI. Denny enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, spending time with family and friends, and he was a huge Michigan fan. Denny is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jan; three children, Jason Hindson, Patrick Hindson, Melissa Williams; two grandchildren, Sydney, Garrison; two sisters, Beverly Hindson, Kathy Basnaw; special service brother, Bill (Ann Marie) Jackson; self-adopted family, Rick (Angie) Collins, and their children, Olivia and Devin. A visitation will be held on Thursday December 21, 2017 from 6-8 PM at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. A funeral service with military honors will be held on Friday December 22, 2017 at 11 AM at the Byron Church, 3230 Trebein Rd., Fairborn, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of service at the church. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
