Tommy Ray Mason, age 82 of Fairborn, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at the Hospice of Dayton. He was born November 1, 1941, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of the late James Isaiah and Madonna V. (Arwine) Mason.
Tommy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Tommy served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force, achieving the rank of Sergeant while fighting in the Vietnam War. He then was employed as a tool and die maker with the Laughter Tool & Die Corporation in Dayton for 26 years. He spent his free time boating, camping, restoring, often being called ‘a jack of all trades.’ Moreover, Tommy cherished the time he spent among the Old Timer’s Association in Xenia, where he was well known and will be missed greatly.
In addition to his parents, Tommy is preceded in death by his dear wife of 54 years, Mary E. (Boyd) Mason; and brother, Terry Mason. He is survived by two children, Brian (Maggie) Mason, Sara Mason; three grandchildren, Tyler, Darion, Lunden; one great-grandchild, Noah; several nieces and nephews.
Together, the life of Tommy Ray and his late wife, Mary Elizabeth (Boyd) Mason will also be celebrated. At her passing, October 8, 2021, no public services were held due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, September 22, 2024, at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, OH 45324. Mary Elizabeth (Boyd) Mason, age 76, of Fairborn, passed away peacefully, October 8, 2021. She was born March 27, 1945, in Hays, Kansas, the daughter of the late Walter Andrew and Phyllis Eugenia (Coen) Boyd.
Mary was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, to many. Mary was employed as a registered nurse for more than 40 years. She graduated from the Miami Valley Hospital School, class of 1966. Her personable nature allowed her to provide exceptional care to numerous patients over her dignified career. Mary was also a member of the Enon Church of Christ. Moreover, Mary had a passion for traveling with her close friend, Carol. Together, they visited places all over the world; such as Australia, New Zealand, and beyond!
Mary is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her two children, Brian (Maggie) Mason, Sara Mason; three grandchildren, Tyler, Darion, Lunden; one-great-grandchild, Noah; two brothers, Andrew Boyd, Curt Boyd; as well as several nieces and nephews.
