Fairborn

Shawn Allen Massie, age 53 of Fairborn, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024, in the comfort of his home. He was born October 18, 1970, at Wright-Patterson AFB, the son of the late Tracy Edward and Joyce Ann (Fannin) Massie.

Shawn was a devoted father, grandfather, son, friend, patriot, and coach to many. Throughout his working career as an electrician, he was employed with various companies, notably, Reddy Electric and Sparks Electric Service. Shawn was an avid NASCAR fan, still endorsing the legend himself, Jeff Gordon #24. In addition, his legacy includes mentorship as an advocate and dedicated coach for the Fairborn—Little League Baseball. Shawn had a profound impact on the lives of young players, especially his sons. Those who knew and loved Shawn can attest to him always doing things his own way. His determination and hard-headedness served him well even when facing life’s challenges. For nearly 20 years, Shawn fought a long and courageous battle with numerous severe health conditions even amidst these health concerns Shawn’s character never wavered.

Shawn is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by two sons, Garth (Morgan) Massie, William “Paden” (Alexandra) Tye; four grandchildren, Gauge, Jaxson, Oakley, and soon to be baby boy, Elliott Trace-Shawn; life-long friends, Shannon (Donna) Snow and their son, Matt Snow; Scott (Leslie) Kilgore; constant K9 companion, Ziva; cousins, Brian (Liz) Massie, and Theresa (John) Blanton.

For those who wish to pay their respects, Shawn would have encouraged enjoying his pastimes. These could include attending a baseball game, mentoring a young player, watching a NASCAR race, throwing some darts with friends, or riding a motorcycle to get some wind therapy.
