Sandra K. Zimmerman

Sandra K. Zimmerman, age 83 of Fairborn passed away August 9, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born February 17, 1941 in Harrisburg, PA, the daughter of the late Harry R. Sr. and Sarah (Spangler) Reese. Upon marriage, Sandra and husband Richard had the opportunity to leave PA for Utah where they lived for 12 years and where their 3 children were born. Sandra enjoyed exploring the western states with her family and was an avid camper who loved learning about all the places they visited. When the family relocated to Ohio, Sandra chose not to go back to work in banking, where she had previously worked in both PA and Utah. She started a career at Kmart in Fairborn where she made many fond friendships and enjoyed her work there for over 30 years. Sandra had a lifelong love of reading and enjoyed crosswords and word search puzzles.  She especially liked going on nightly car rides with family to look for deer. She spent many long hours bird watching. She loved watching the many Goldfinches, Cardinals, Blue Jays, and Hummingbirds that would frequent her feeders. Sandra always surrounded herself with music and had a wide range of songs and artists she enjoyed- she often said she couldn't imagine life without music. She was fascinated with astronomy and loved moon and star gazing. She was excited to be able to witness the total eclipse this year. With all her varied interests and enthusiasms, her biggest love was spending time with her family.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; and brother, Terry Reese.  Sandra is survived by three children, Sharon (John) Zimmerman, David Zimmerman (Amy Nadybal), Susan (Heath) Ryan; five grandchildren, Courtney (Scott) Klement, Kristen (Bennett) Bradford, Hayley Zimmerman, Jacob Ryan, Emily Ryan; five great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Adalynn, Caroline, Laurel, Iris; brother, Harry R. Jr. (Betsy) Reese; as well as extended family and friends.  A visitation will be held on Friday August 16, 2024 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, where a funeral will be held on Saturday August 17, 2024 at 10:00 A.M., Pastor Stuart Snow officiating.  Sandra will be laid to rest at Byron Cemetery next to her husband.  If desired, memorial contributions may be made Ohio’s Hospice.
