Ronald R. Koogler

Ronald R. Koogler, age 86, passed peacefully to reunite with loved ones in heaven on April 27, 2022.

He was a devout Christian and the ultimate family man.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, in which they spent 62 wonderful years together.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Doris (Gard) Koogler.

As a lifelong Greene County resident, Ron was a successful businessman and the owner of Daytona Mills until his retirement in 1986. He was instrumental to many local building business’ during his time at Daytona Mills and built many solid relationships.  He was able to retire and enjoy his hobbies of tractor collecting, farming, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his daughters, Sherry (Dwain) Gorby, Sandra (Kevin) Hogue; four grandchildren, Alyssa (Mathew) Roberts, Mathew Gorby, Lindsay (David) Vallo, and Leslie Hogue. He also was the proud great grandpa of two.  He thoroughly enjoyed his relationships with his family and was the ultimate Patriarch of our family. He is also survived by his brothers Jack (Elaine) Koogler, Arthur (Julie) Koogler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron graduated from Beavercreek High School, Class of 1953; attended the University of Dayton; and valued the close ties that he had with many lifelong friends.

He enjoyed being a greeter at the Byron Church in Fairborn, a post he held for over 35 years. Ron had a sincere nature about him, and “To know Ron was to Love him” as quoted by many.

He enjoyed Cincinnati Reds, baseball, girls’ softball, John Deere two-cylinder tractors, his daily walks with his loyal dog “Corky”, boating, and maintaining his farm.  His meticulous nature was exhibited in his property and everything he did.   He also had many fond ventures with Barb traveling in their motor home to tractor shows, where they made friends from all over the USA and Canada. They enjoyed their vacations, and in particular with their “Florida motor home pals” as part time snowbirds for many winters.

He was a member of The Byron Church, the Old Timers Club in Xenia, and the John Deere two-cylinder club (nationwide).

He enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow into successful adults and he relished the time watching them compete on the softball fields, golf courses and in the gymnasium. Grandpa was so caring and the number one fan of his grandchildren and forever proud of his daughters and their endeavors.  He led a complete life and was sincere, honest and genuine as the day was long

We will miss him, but we are assured by his faith in his Lord Jesus Christ that he is in heaven today.

All who knew him where enriched by his charm, class and friendship.

The family will receive friends on Monday May 9, 2022 from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday May 10. 2022 at 10:30 A.M. at the Byron Church, 3230 Trebein Rd., Fairborn, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating.  Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Byron Church in memory of Ron.
