Roger B. Walker, 58, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 4, 2022.
Born on December 29, 1963 in Agana, Guam, a son of the late Robert and Macie (Cooper) Walker, and was a 1983 graduate of Fairborn High School. He continued his education, attending night school and completing his studies to become a Journeyman Electrician.
Roger was a longtime Fairborn Little League Coach and was actively involved in his children’s sporting events – soccer and baseball/softball. Many hours were spent traveling as a family to sporting events throughout the country. His children’s friends and teammates often referred to Roger as Pops and Poppa Q…treating every kid as if they were his own. Whether he was coaching or just a fan in the stands, he was the happiest cheering on his kids.
A diehard Dallas Cowboys and Ohio State Buckeyes fan, it’s easy to see how his love of sports was passed down to Ciara and Quentin.
Roger made sure to always be present in the moment, as making memories with family and friends was important to him. He enjoyed traveling to ocean and mountains , live music concerts, and playing darts, often striking up a conversation and making friends with anyone wherever he traveled.
In addition to his wife Teri, and children Ciara, Quentin and Kendall Esken, he is survived by two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Walker, longtime childhood friend, Teresa Buttelwerth; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his sister, Shelia Fleming, and his four legged best friend Tanner.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor James Clayton officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until the time of service.
Please feel free to celebrate Super Bowl LVI with Roger by supporting your favorite team’s colors.
