Robert J. “Joe” Clingman, age 83 of Jamestown, passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday July 23, 2024. He was born June 24, 1941 in Dayton, the son of the late Robert and Ida Juanita (Ritter) Clingman.
Joe was very mechanically minded and was employed at Elano Corporation, retiring after 25 years of service. His family knew him as the jack of all trades and he enjoyed helping on engines, race cars, and home remodeling projects over the years. Joe loved the water and some of his best memories were entertaining family and friends at he and his wife’s house at Shawnee Lake. He enjoyed boating and fishing and had served on the lake patrol for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Ruby; six sons, Todd (Angie), Tim, Jody (April), Brian (Heather), Jeff (Michelle), Jerry (Carol); fifteen grandchildren, Michael (Jacelyn), Bethany (Victor), Austin, Jeremy, Jessica, Jennifer, Jeffery, Jacob, Elizabeth, Frankie, Jordan (Logan), Josie, Kaleb, Kaitlyn, Jase; eight great-grandchildren, Evan, Melodee, Kaiden, Riley, Nolan, Valen, Easton, Arthur; as well as extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Monday July 29, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Art Gillum officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital.
