Richard W. “Rick” Collins, Sr., age 72 of Fairborn, passed away Tuesday February 2, 2022. He was born September 13, 1949 in Dayton, the son of the late Richard Eugene and Marjorie Joanne (Foster) Taylor Collins.
Rick served his country in the US Army during Vietnam and followed as an owner/operator in the trucking industry for many years. He co-founded C & H Carstar Auto Body Repair in Fairborn, where he retired. Rick had his private pilots license, enjoyed riding motorcycles, and was a classic car aficionado. When he wasn’t outdoors, he was a movie buff and the world’s biggest Reese’s Peanut Butter cup fan.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, John Collins; and a step-daughter, Amye Rose. Survivors include his spouse of 32 years, Cheryl; two sons, Richard Jr. (Erica), Kevin, and their mother, Betty (Bill) Danks; Andrew Rose, Anastasia Rose; grandchildren, Blake, Lillian, Emmett “Kermit”; two brothers, Michael (Charlotte) Collins, Edward (Doni) Collins; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Rick had a big heart and was a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to numerous people throughout his life.
The family will receive friends on Monday February 14, 2022 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday February 15, 2022 at 12:30 P.M., Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Dayton National Cemetery.
