Richard J. Mello

Richard J. Mello, age 78 of Xenia passed away Saturday November 4, 2023.  He was born August 1, 1945 in Fall River, Massachusetts, the son of the late John R. Mello and Emma (DeCosta) Engle.  Richard served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam and followed with employment at Midas Muffler and retired as a supervisor after 30 years of service. He was an avid gun and coin collector; enjoyed traveling and finding treasures with his metal detector.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amber Shackleford.  Richard is survived by his loving wife, Sharleen; four children, Ricky, Pamela, David (Galina), Kelly; many grandchildren; four siblings, Loraine, John, Jim, Kenny; as well as extended family and friends.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday November 11, 2023 at 12:00 noon at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.
