Rev. Ancil Carter

July 12, 1923 — July 7, 2022

Pastor Ancil Carter, age 98 of Fairborn, was called from his earthly dwelling place and into the loving arms of God on Thursday July 7, 2022 surrounded by his family at the Hospice of Dayton.  He was born July 12, 1923 in Wrigley, Kentucky, the son of the late Jesse and Mary (Brown) Carter.

Pastor Carter started his ministry in Fairborn in 1946 and never missed a day for the next 70 plus years to bring the message to those in his congregation and community.  Over the years his congregation grew, culminating in him founding Victory Church in 1993.  His preaching was responsible for bringing countless souls to Christ; as well as encouraging blessings to the hundreds of weddings he performed and comfort and reassurance to the hundreds of funerals he officiated.  He will always be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his brothers and sisters in Christ.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by ten brothers.  Survivors include his loving wife of 72 years, Donna Christine; two children, Joel (Carlee) Carter of Fairborn, Anna Sue (Doug) Carter Stewart of Waynesville; five grandchildren, Todd (Tasha) Baker, Stephanie (Brad) Perry, Ben (Nikki) Carter, Kimberly (Keith) Meyers, Natalee (Jamie) Carter; eight great-grandsons, Matthew, Andrew, Noah, Devin, Alex, Dillon, Max, Gavin; a great-granddaughter, Lilee; a sister, Sue Ramey of Shelby, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family, his church family, and many friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday July 11, 2022 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Victory Church, 2443 Valle Greene Drive, Fairborn, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday July 12, 2022 at 10:30 AM, Darrell Hill officiating.  The family will have a private interment at Byron Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Victory Church or Hospice of Dayton.
