Nina B. Malavich, age 89 of Fairborn, passed away Monday May 14, 2018 at Mason Christian Village. She was born May 20, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late David and Helen (Kotko) Batz. Nina was employed as a sales associate with Elder-Beerman, retiring after 30 years of service; and was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Orthodox Church in Dayton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles in 2005; a son, Nicholas Malavich; and a brother, Theodore Batz. She is survived by three daughters, Tanya (Doug) MacNeil of New Jersey, Andrea (Scott) Boden of Mason, Ohio, Stephanie (George) Barrett of Fairfield, Ohio; eight grandchildren; Laura (Anders) Martinson, Emily (Andrew) Tucker, Zachary Boden, Spencer Barrett, Erica Boden, Audrey Barrett, Sophia Boden, Natalie Barrett; a great-granddaughter, Wren Martinson; and a brother, William Batz of Michigan. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday May 29, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Father Theodore Bobosh officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery.
