Nancy Burkhart

Nancy Burkhart, of Fairborn, passed away early Sunday morning, July 28th, at Hospice of Dayton. She was 92. She attended Mitchell College and worked at Farmer’s Home Administration.

A life-long and accomplished artist who started drawing when very young, Nancy excelled especially in watercolor, as well as oil and Japanese brush painting. She enjoyed painting watercolors as recently as several months ago, often along with her children. She was a former member of the Fairborn Art Association and the Western Ohio Watercolor Society, and exhibited her paintings in numerous shows.

She was a wonderful cook whose many specialties included cornbread dressing that had no equal. An avid reader, she always had a book or two (or three) within arm’s reach, and loved passing on her favorites.

During her 71-year marriage, she and her husband Robert enjoyed their long life together, visiting many treasured friends and family across the country, often traveling in small airplanes he piloted. For all of her life she was an exceptionally devoted and giving mother to her four children, for which she will be fondly remembered, celebrated, and dearly missed.

Nancy is survived by her four children, Eric, Michael, Ann, and Karen; granddaughter Lisa and her two children. Her husband Robert soon followed her, passing away four days later on August 1st. She is preceded in death by her sister Anne, brother Robert, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.

A private remembrance and celebration of her life will be held by the family.
