Mitchell Allen Rowland

Mitchell “Allen” Rowland, age 51, of Fairborn, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Allen was born July 7, 1971 in Xenia, OH, the son of Mitchell L. Rowland and Shirlene (Mckenzie) Rowland.

He was a loving husband, father, and son. Allen received a Master’s degree from Wright State University and was employed with Greeneview High School in Jamestown where he taught social studies. In addition to teaching, he mentored his students as the leader of the Chess Club and Quick Recall at Greeneview.  He also taught in Greeneview’s university prep program as an adjunct faculty professor for Clark State College. Allen and his family cherished the numerous friendships he shared with the various staff at Greeneview High School and all of the help and support they received the last few months. A lifelong fan of the San Francisco Giant’s baseball and the 49ers football, Allen looked forward to each new season. He also cherished 19 years of marriage with his wife, Melody in which they were blessed to have one daughter.

Allen is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, father-in-law, Richard Roach; sister-in-law, Barbara Niles; and brother-in-law, Mark Niles. He is survived by his parents, Mitchell (Shirlene) Rowland; wife, Melody (Roach) Rowland; daughter, Makenzie Rowland; mother-in-law, Clarabell; brother-in-law, Kevin (Shawna) Roach; as well as extended family and close friends.

A visitation will be held Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church, 1167 Highview Drive, Fairborn, 45324 where a funeral service will be on held Friday, February 10, 2023, at 1:00 P.M., Pastor Matthew Williams officiating. Burial to follow at Byron Cemetery, Fairborn. If desired memorial contributions may be made to Greeneview High School in Mitchell’s name. Arrangements in care of Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, Fairborn.
