Mary Ann Kumanchik, age 84 of Yellow Springs, passed away Friday January 19, 2024. She was born July 28, 1939 in Rochester, PA, the daughter of the late Earl and Dorothy Jean (Fields) Fogel.
Mary retired from the Ohio Hunger Task Force, where she was employed as a regional supervisor. Not one for too much idle time, Mary and her husband were avid travelers visiting 6 continents, she earned her private pilots license, loved to read and picked up a book everyday, made many wedding cakes, and she even zip-lined at 80. Her legacy will include how she was such a vibrant and capable person who truly thought she could do it all. Above everything else, Mary held her family near and dear to her heart and she loved hosting family get-togethers and spending time with each other.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene; sister, Pearl; and three grandchildren, Sophia, Anthony, and Jacqueline. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 67 ½ years, William “Bill”; three children, Linda (Rod) Sprouse, William “Bill”, Jr. (Julie) Kumanchik; Kevin (Janine) Kumanchik; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lillian; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Private services will be held by the family.
