Marcia Eads Berry, age 78 of Fairborn passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 5, 2022. She was born to the late James and Marjorie (Casteel) Eads on March 22, 1944 in Decatur, Illinois. She is a 1962 graduate of Arthur High School, and 1964 graduate of Sparks College for Business. She was employed for twelve years as a Secretary for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. She married Bernard Everett “Eric” Berry on June 14, 1975. They were stationed at Sembach Air Base, Germany for five years before making Fairborn their permanent home in December 1980.
Marcia enjoyed life as a stay at home mother for eleven years before working as a substitute for Fairborn City Schools. Throughout her two daughters school years, she was Five Points PTO Secretary, Girl Scout Brownie troop leader, classroom mother, as well as marching band volunteer for eight years. She sold Avon products for several years. She later worked for Teleperformance for a total of fifteen years. She loved her family and was always on the sidelines supporting her daughters in track and marching band.
She was a member of Arthur United Methodist Church prior to transferring her membership to Fairborn UMC in 1991. Marcia is survived by her husband Eric of forty-seven years; two daughters; Melissa (Josh) Howard of Fairborn, Natalie (Steve) VanAllen of Maineville; six grandchildren, Grayson Lee, Garrett Nolan, and Danica Casteel Howard; Corinne Elizabeth, Everett Lee, and Harrison Wells VanAllen; sister Marilyn (Rick) Canupp of Lititz, PA; brother James “Chip” (Tammy) Eads of Mattoon, IL; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 15th from 2 to 4 pm at Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd. Fairborn, and funeral services will be held on Monday, May 16th at 11 am at Fairborn United Methodist Church, 100 N Broad St, with Pastors Beth Holten and Mike Fitzpatrick (Ginghamsburg Church) officiating. Marcia will be laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Dayspring of Fairborn as well as Crossroads Hospice for the wonderful care through her final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fairborn Music Club, care of Fairborn City Schools in Marcia’s memory.
