Lorraine Ward

Lorraine Ward, age 88 of Fairborn, passed away Wednesday January 19, 2022 at the Hospice of Dayton. She was born January 1, 1934 in Berea, KY, the daughter of the late James and Senora (Turner) Watkins.  Lorraine was a founding member of Maple Heights Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School.  She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, and quilting.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Ward; six siblings, Eddie, Jewel, Glenna, Anna Mae, Cliff and Wayne.  Lorraine is survived by four children, Jeannie Curtis, Sue Vaughan, Lynn (Larry) Walker, Jim (Christine) Ward; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; brother, Kenny Watkins; sister, Joyce (Eddie) Delph; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. A funeral service will be held on Saturday January 22, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor Chris Tannreuther officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
