Levant E.Smith

Levant E. Smith, age 82 of Fairborn, died September 3rd, 2018. Born February 17th, 1936 in Port Huron, MI. Lee was kind and provided thoughtful advice and friendship to all he encountered. Lee started out as a lifeguard on Lake Huron as a teenager.  He then entered the Air Force during the Korean War where he served as a radio repair technician in Germany. After his service to the USAF, Lee worked for the Michigan State Police as a computer programmer. Lee was fortunate to attend an Honor Flight trip to Washington D.C. at age 80.  Lee is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Judith (Kirby) Smith in 2004. He is survived by his daughter, Caroline (William) Buckey, granddaughter, Erin (Lucas) Madison, and his grandson, Stephen Buckey (engaged to Sarah Russell). Lee is also survived by his sisters, Rebecca (Smith) Baird and Olive Jane (Smith) Francoeur. Lee was also very grateful for his constant companion and friend, Alma Parsons.  Lee is preceded and survived by many other wonderful family and friends.  A private memorial celebration will be held by the family. Donations can be made to Dayton Honor Flight.  The family is being served by Belton Stroup Funeral Home, Fairborn, Ohio.
