Kerry Martin Kendig

d. February 3, 2020

Kerry Martin Kendig, age 60 of New Carlisle, entered the next life on February 3, 2020. Born on January 18, 1960 as the son of Donald and Janet Kendig (Daniel), Kerry was raised in Fairborn, Ohio and attended Park Hills High School. Upon graduation, Kerry went to Wright State University and earned a bachelors degree in English. Kerry reconnected with an acquaintance he had known in high school, and on May 8, 1993, Kerry married Cathy Kendig, daughter of Wiley and Ethel Stamper (Henson). Kerry and Cathy proudly had a daughter, Rachel Kendig, on June 18, 1995. Despite his formal training, Kerry ultimately pursued his passion of working with his hands; his last working position was supervisor of maintenance at Montgomery County Environmental Services, in which he lived out one of his hobbies, fixing cars.

Kerry was a talented and skilled mechanic and handyman. Kerry could be found on many days out in his garage or in his barn fixing up cars or tractors. This often included doing routine maintenance to Rachel’s car, and he was the first person she called when she needed advice on anything, especially cars. This was a hobby he inherited and often shared with his father. Kerry enjoyed working outdoors, including outdoor household chores and tending to the pool. Kerry enjoyed visiting his daughter, especially at University of Kentucky football games; spending time with family; and catching the latest game, in any sport, on TV. Most recently, Rachel and Kerry went on a weekend trip to West Palm Beach, where the two of them were able to reconnect and sit on the beach together. Kerry was a kind and loving husband, son, and father. Kerry had a soft heart toward strangers and loved his family deeply until his last breath.

Kerry is survived by his daughter, Rachel Kendig; mother, Janet Kendig; father, Donald Kendig; uncle Marion Kendig; mother-in-law Ethel Stamper; and other extended family and friends. He joins in death his wife, Cathy Kendig.
