Judy Kyle Hobbs, born on February 2, 1938, in Osborne, Ohio, departed this life on January 9, 2025. She was a beloved educator and cherished community member whose contributions will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Judy graduated from high school in 1956 and continued her education, ultimately earning her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from The Ohio State University. Her impact extended to the youngest citizens of her community as a teacher at South Elementary School, later she became a room mother and an active member of the PTO committee. Her commitment to education was deeply rooted, as she hailed from a family with five generations of involvement in Osborn/Fairborn City Schools. Her dedication did not go unnoticed; among her proud accomplishments was reactivating the OSU Alumni Club of Greene County and receiving the “Best Buckeye” Alumni Club Office Award.
Beyond her professional life, Judy was passionate about community service, notably volunteering at Rona Hills and at Shawnee Lake, where she further demonstrated her love for her neighbors and her commitment to making her community a better place.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Jon Hobbs; her children, Jon (Cheri) Hobbs, James (Donna) Hobbs, and Dr. Joseph (Rosa) Hobbs; her grandchildren, Jon, Kyle (Rachel), Brian, Ryan, Lauren, Livia, and Joe; and her sister, Nancy (George) Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary (Ashbaugh) Kyle.
Visitation will be held on January 31, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Belton Stroup Funeral Home located at 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Ohio. A Mass will be celebrated in her honor on February 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 44 E Washington St, Jamestown, Ohio.
Judy Kyle Hobbs will be remembered as a dedicated educator, a compassionate volunteer, and a devoted family member. Her legacy of service, commitment to education, and loving spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
