Joseph Aiello

Joseph Aiello died peacefully from heart failure on November 11, 2017. Joe was born in 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio, to Carmela (Magaro) and Pietro Aiello, both from Cosenza, Italy. Joe is predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Elaine; his three siblings, Mary Chihill, Jack Aiello, and Helen Korman; and his daughter-in-law Patricia. He is survived by his three children, Peter Aiello, Susan Aiello (John Bukowski), and James Aiello (Darci); four grandchildren Joseph C. Aiello (Jeanette), Linnea Shieh (Andrew), Mitchell Aiello, and Lauren Aiello; and three great-grandchildren, Hal Sheih, Cora Shieh, and Elijah Aiello. Before going to college, Joe worked as a carpenter’s apprentice and enjoyed woodworking as a lifelong hobby. Joe graduated from General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan (now Kettering University), in 1953 with a degree in mechanical engineering. As an engineer at Ford Motor Company for 30 years, he worked in many different areas of engine research and development. After retirement, Joe and Elaine spent 3 years in Virginia and 17 years in Florida, traveling extensively before returning to their Ohio roots.Funeral mass will be held at 11 am on Friday November 17, at Mary, Help of Christians, 954 N Maple Ave, Fairborn OH 45324. The family will receive friends from 10 am until the time of service. A memorial luncheon will follow the mass at 12:30 pm at Bravo Cucina Italiana, 2731 Fairfield Commons Blvd, Beavercreek OH 45431. All family and friends are welcome.
