John E. Dupre

July 14, 1934 — July 26, 2024

John E. Dupre, age 90, of Fairborn, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Miami Valley South Hospital, after a long courageous fight with Leukemia.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Joe Dupre; sister, Rosalind Lee Price; brother, Bobby Myers; his mother, Dorthy (Dupre) Myers; and father, Lester Dupre.

Upon graduating from Wellston High school, John joined the Navy serving on the USS Coral Sea CVA-43 aircraft carrier working in aviation electronics.  After serving 4 years in the Navy, John attended and graduated from Rio Grande College in three years with a degree in education. John began his career with Fairborn City Schools in 1960 working as a teacher and administrator.  Some of John’s favorite memories were from teaching 6th grade at Rona Hills Elementary School and he frequently shared stories from those days with a huge smile. John was blessed to spend 34 years in a career that he loved before retiring.  John loved spending time family and with friends that were much like family, playing cards, golfing, traveling and storytelling.

John is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Maxine (Reed) Dupre; daughter, Cindy (John) Penza and son, Alex (Julie) Dupre; grandchildren, Laura and Jason Penza; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday July 31, 2024 from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M. at Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Byron Cemetery, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating.
