John D. Cantrell, age 73 of Centerville, passed away Friday December 28, 2018. He was born September 23, 1945 in Fairborn, the son of the late Grover and Edna (Adams) Cantrell. John served his country in the US Army during Vietnam and followed with employment in civil service at Wright-Patterson AFB, retiring in 1999 after over 33 years of combined federal service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Justin D. Cantrell; two brothers, Raymond and James; and a sister, Carol Howard. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Judy; a son, Jason D. Cantrell (Suzi Parsons); daughter-in-law, Charlotte Cantrell; two grandchildren, Hunter and Cade; a brother, Charles Cantrell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. A funeral service will be held on Thursday January 3, 2019 at 12:00 noon at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery.
