John Wayne Boone, age 69 of Fairborn, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday April 18, 2018 at his residence. He was born February 19, 1949 in Meadow Bluff, WV. John was employed as an electrician with Southwestern Portland Cement Company in Fairborn and followed at Delphi. He was a member of Fairborn United Methodist Church and was very active in Freemasonry. John served as a Past Master and currently was the Tyler of Michael L. Finnell Lodge #711 F&AM and was honored as the 2016 Mason of the Year; served on the DeMolay advisory board; Xenia #36 Chapter of Royal Arch Masons; Nathaniel Greene Commandery #81; Antioch Shrine of Dayton; Fairborn Shrine Club; and The Valley of Dayton Scottish Rite. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. Preceded in death by his father, Harold Matthew Boone; mother and stepfather, Coriene (Bland) and Clyde Parson; maternal grandparents, Okey H. and Frenchie Bland; paternal grandparents, Jesse and Kate Boone; and a brother, Robert “Bobby” Boone. Survivors include his wife of six years, Wanda; four children, Matthew (Jennifer) Boone, Christopher (Heather) Boone, Melissa Boone, Sarah Boone; eleven grandchildren; four siblings, Wanda Darbyshire, Okey Ronald Boone, Donald (Anne-Marie) Boone, Cheryl (Jeff) Whited; first wife, Dorothy Boone; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. The family will receive friends on Sunday April 22, 2018 from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. A Masonic service and will begin at 4:45 P.M. followed by a Scottish Rite service. A funeral service will be held on Monday April 23, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Aaron Chivington officiating. Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229.
