Jean R. Adkins, age 67 of Yellow Springs, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday June 28, 2018 at her residence. She was born May 24, 1951 in Dayton, the daughter of the late Charles Ross and Lillian (Tilton) Spinning. Jean was employed as an administrative assistant with Cox Media Group, retiring in 2014. She was active with Terrific Women in Giving / TWIGs 11, an Auxiliary of Dayton Children’s Hospital, and enjoyed crafting. Most importantly, Jean loved her family and friends and was a kind, selfless wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Chuck Spinning; and father-in-law, Arnold Adkins. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Mark; four children, Angi Adkins of Fairborn, Marci Adkins of Fairborn, Nikki (Todd) Frankenberg of Waynesville, Mark Adkins, II of Fairborn; five grandchildren, Cory, Morgan, Kolton, Karlie, Kloe; three great-grandchildren, Corissa, Landon, Ezella; a sister, Elaine (Bud) Brubaker of New Carlisle; mother-in-law, Edith Adkins of Bellbrook; sisters and brothers-in-law, Deby and Roger Moore, Greg Adkins, Michelle and Junior Gabbard, Doug Adkins; her beloved dog, Fergie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbors. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday July 3, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tot Fund c/o Dayton Children’s Hospital -or- Hospice of Dayton.
