Jay B. "Byrd" Roof

Jay B. “Byrd” Roof, age 36, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Friday, October 6, 2023. Byrd was born September 26, 1987, the son of Barney Roof and Rhonda Carroll of Dayton.

Byrd worked as a self-employed carpenter and he enjoyed drawing, building, working on cars, and embracing the freedom that it brought.

Preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Nancy Wilbanks; maternal grandfather, William Chambers. Byrd is survived by his father, Barney Roof; mother, Rhonda Carroll; children, Jaylynn, and Leila; siblings, Bryan “Bub” Carroll, Allison Chandler, Mackenzie Pitman, Lyanna and Shain and their mother Tammy Pitman; niece, Gemma; nephews, Jayce, Lucas, and Levi; special friends, Kristen Rimi, and Ashley Sextro; as well as extended family.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, 45324. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of service.
