James D. "Jim" Roby

James D. “Jim” Roby, age 71 of Fairborn passed away Monday March 11, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born April 7, 1952 in Lima, the son of the late Herman and Jean (Harsh) Roby.  Jim was a family man who loved spending time with wife, children, and grandchildren.  He was able to fix anything and everything that he encountered.  Jim enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, swimming and going on vacations.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Dixie and Denval Gilliam; and son-in-law, John Howard.  Jim is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Shirley; daughter, Kelly Howard; son, Brian Roby (Nikki and her children, Noah, Connor, Eli, Kilee); grandchildren, Marley, Savannah, Braylee; brother, Tommy (Teri) Roby; two sisters, Cheryl Morrison, Sue (Mike) Barnes; lifelong friend, Kurt Hussong; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday March 16, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Mark Violet officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.  Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery.
