James C. “Jim” Henry, age 75 of Fairborn, passed away from cancer on Tuesday August 14, 2018 at the Hospice of Dayton. He was born October 26, 1942 in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Cordell and Mattie P. (Copeland) Henry. Jim served his country in the US Marines and later was employed as a maintenance/machinist for 50 years. He was an active member and greeter at Apex Community Church in Kettering, and previously at Victory Church in Fairborn. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, and fishing. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two nephews, David Weller and Charles Weller. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marla; daughter, Kimberly (Jeffrey) Bruggeman; son, James Christopher (Michele) Henry; five grandchildren, Tyler (Emily) Payne, Austin Payne, Kaitlyn Bruggeman, Ian Henry, William Henry; three great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Simon, Theo John; sister, Christine Vieira; as well as nephews, nieces and extended family. The family will receive friends on Friday August 17, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Victory Church, 2443 Valle Greene Dr., Fairborn. A funeral service will be held on Saturday August 18, 2018 at 9:30 A.M. at the Apex Community Church, 5200 Far Hills Ave., Kettering, Pastor Bob Thomson officiating. Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society. Arrangements in care of Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, Fairborn.
