Herman W. Jeffers, age 79 of Dayton, passed away Sunday February 7, 2021. He was born November 20, 1941 in Dayton, the son of the late Rufus and Katie (Harris) Jeffers. Herman was a longtime member of Byron Church; and he enjoyed farming, gardening, holding babies, and was known as the community helper, always willing to lend a hand. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Jeffers; two sisters, Jeri Pennington and Wanda Mason. Herman is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kathleen; four children, Gineen Pitstick, Darren W. (Charlyn) Jeffers, Lester (Misty) Jeffers, Janell (Chip) Gannon; 13 grandchildren, Zachariah (Michelle) Pitstick, Chelsea Pitstick (Jeremy Ellison), Samatha (Levi) Gilliland, Josh (Loni) Knapp, Lindsay (Jimmy) Bone, Chelsea (Jason) Meyer, Darren C. Jeffers, Kelsie Jeffers, Cheyenne Jeffers, Nate Jeffers, Avery Jeffers, Jacob Gannon, Gunnar Gannon; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn Jeffers, as well as extended family. The visitation will be held on Tuesday February 16, 2021 from 11:00 until 12:30 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. A private service will be held by the family. If desired memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital –or- Hospice of Dayton.
