Gertrude M. "Cookie"Spain

Gertrude M. “Cookie” Spain, age 81 of Fairborn, passed away October 29, 2017.  She was born August 27, 1936 in Wellston, Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Loudermilk) Norris.  Cookie was a longtime member of Victory Church where she taught Sunday School and Children’s Church for many years.  She enjoyed sewing and spending time with her grandchildren.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda; granddaughter, Janelle Spain; and eleven siblings, William Norris, Charles Norris, Margaret Ferguson, Mary Henry, Wanda Norris, John Norris, Clarence Norris, Richard Norris, Walter Norris, Roger Norris, Robert Norris.  Cookie is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald; four children, Donald Spain Jr., Charles (Betsy) Spain, Roger (Cheryl) Spain, Margaret Spain; twelve grandchildren, Charity Spain, Hope Spain, Joyelle Spain, Charles Spain II, Courtnie Spain, Chad (Jamie) Spain, Aaron Spain, Daniel Spain, Graham Spain, Allyson Locke, Abigayle Locke, Ayden Locke; four great-grandchildren, Lucas, Lila, Trenton, and Jack Spain; and two sisters, Jean Stanley, Dorothy Schultz.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday October 31, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Victory Church, 2443 Valle Greene Dr., Fairborn, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday November 1, 2017 at 11:00 A.M., Pastor Tim Walden officiating.  Burial will follow at Byron Cemetery.  If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Victory Church.
