Fred B. Elliott

Fred B. Elliott, age 77 of Fairborn, passed away Wednesday December 13, 2017.  He was born October 14, 1940 in Richmond, IN, the son of the late Homer and Eleanor (Barr) Elliott.  Fred graduated from Fairmont High School and Bowling Green State University, where he played on the 1959 National Championship football team.  He was employed as an industrial arts teacher with Fairborn City Schools where he taught drafting, woods, metals, and graphic arts; retiring in 1992 after 30 years of service.  An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, snowmobiling, and spending time at the family cabin in Canada.  Fred loved his family and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s music and sporting events.  He was a member of St. Brigid Parish in Xenia and attended St. Francis of Assisi in Walford, Ontario while in Canada.  A devoted Dayton Flyers fan, he and his wife have been men’s basketball season ticket holders for the last 43 years.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant brother.  Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Roberta “Bert”; two children, Lorie (Stephen) Lamb of Fairborn, Bill (Wende) Morgan-Elliott of Kettering; five grandchildren, Andrew and Sarah Lamb, Max, Jack, and Mali Morgan-Elliott; a brother, Tom (Linda) Elliott of Kettering; as well as nieces, nephews, other extended family, and a host of friends here and in Canada.  The family will receive friends on Monday December 18, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday December 19, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 312 Fairground Rd., Xenia, Father John Krumm Celebrant.  Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 120 W.
