Eugene (Gene) T. Egalite, age 81 of Fairborn, passed away Monday March 2, 2020. He was born September 22, 1938 In Lexington, Kentucky. The youngest son of the late Mary (O'Geary) and Joseph Egalite Sr. Gene graduated from Fairborn H.S. in 1956 and served his country in the United State Navy. He retired from both Dayton Tire and Rubber and Emery Worldwide. After his retirements, he worked for Hertz as a transporter. He had a servant's heart and volunteered to be on the Fairborn Parks and Recreation Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, as well as serving as the membership representative to the Wright Patterson Credit Union Board. He was a member of American Legion Post 526 and was an avid golfer, bowler, and sports fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Jr. and James Earl, as well as his sister-in-law, Alberta (Rice) Egalite. He is survived by his loving wife Carol (Riddle), who he married in 1969; four daughters, Kim (Gary) Collins, Dawn (Frank) Melchione, Shawn Egalite, Danielle (Randy) Justice; five grandchildren, Brandys Tipton, Alexander Tipton, Ryan Melchione, Liz Justice, Rachel Justice; sister, Joan (Jim) Donohue; two sisters-in-law, Pat Egalite and Bonny Valencia and her husband Bud, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and life-long friends of the card club. The family would like to thank the staff at Preserve of Beavercreek for their support and care. Due to ongoing concerns about public safety created by COVID-19, Gene's family has decided to postpone the memorial gathering until a later date.
