Essie Ferguson

Essie Ferguson, age 83 of Kettering, formerly of Sparta, Illinois, passed away August 26, 2022.  She was born March 25, 1939 in Morgan Co., Kentucky, the daughter of the late Bassie and Margaret (Rosebury) Cantrell.  Essie enjoyed sewing, gardening, shoping with her sisters and spending time with her family.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, son, Mitchell Ferguson; siblings, Elsie Holbrook, Thomas Cantrell, Ova Cantrell, Margie Wright and Tilda Smith.  Essie is survived by two children, Tim Ferguson, Sandy (Jerry) Hotchkiss; four grandchildren, Zach (Christine) Hotchkiss, Elaina (Sean) Remine, Cory Hotchkiss, Cassidy Hotchkiss two great-grandchildren, Dominik and Zoe; her twin, Becky Dorsten; sisters, Betty (Guy) Ratliff, Wilma Trimble; as well as extended family.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday September 1, 2022 at 12:00 noon at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.  Burial will follow at Dayton National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 2698 Ladies Auxiliary, 1911 N. Market St, Sparta, IL 62286.
