Eldon L. Smith

Eldon L. Smith, 80, of Fairborn, Ohio, passed away on February 24, 2024.

He was born to Oral and Edna Smith on January 28, 1944, in Dayton, Ohio.  The only son with three sisters; Irene, Viola, and Janet.

Eldon married the love of his life, Mary, on June 14, 1964.  They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year.

Eldon graduated from Patterson Co-Op in 1962.  As a young man, Eldon worked as a tool designer with many area tool and die design shops before starting his own business, Pyramid Design, Inc. in 1981 in Fairborn, Ohio.  After 40 years of business, Eldon closed Pyramid and fully retired in 2021.

During his years as a local business owner, Eldon was involved with the Fairborn Chamber of Commerce and the Fairborn Rotary Club.  He was a member of Greene Country Club and later the Elks in Springfield.  Eldon was an avid golfer and loved his time on the golf course.

Eldon is survived by his wife Mary and their two children Sandy (Mark) Flynn, and Steve (Holly) Smith.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister, Viola, and many nieces and nephews.

Eldon was a hardworking, honest, generous man who loved his wife, family, and friends.  He was always there with solid advice, a helping hand, and a shoulder to lean on.  He will be missed beyond words.

A private memorial service will be held.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton or The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital OSU.
