Dorothea M. Meade

November 27, 1935 — February 28, 2024

Dorothea M. Meade, age 88 of Fairborn, passed away Wednesday February 28, 2024 at Trinity of Fairborn.  She was born November 27, 1935 in Washington, Indiana, the daughter of the late Apollinaris Liborius and Josephine (Downey) Grannan.

Dorothea was the salutatorian of the Class of 1952 at Montgomery Indiana High School and followed with employment as a legal secretary until she married her husband in 1956.  Her legacy will include the example she set with her steadfast commitment to her family as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Dorothea was a longtime member of Mary, Help of Christians Parish in Fairborn and her love and kindness was a witness and testimony to her belief and trust in God.  Her hobbies included crafting, knitting, sewing, baking legendary peanut butter brownies; and she enjoyed serving as a volunteer at Five Points Elementary School.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ralph Marvin Meade in 2015.  Survivors include two children, Alan (Dottie) Meade of Fairborn, Teresa (Mark) Gooding of Beavercreek; a grandson, Kyle (Malory) Gooding; four granddaughters, Kelley (Adam) Wright, Evette Meade (Shawn Skinner), Mallory (Tim) Anderson, Alicia Gooding; five great-grandchildren, Kaelyn, Malayna, Lydia, Eden, Ezra; two brothers, Ralph (Pat) Grannan of California, Eugene (Peggy) Grannan of Indiana; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday March 5, 2024 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday March 6, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mary, Help of Christians Catholic Church, 954 N. Maple Ave., Fairborn, Fr. Ambrose T. Dobrozsi Celebrant.  Burial will follow at the Byron Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society in care of Mary, Help of Christians Church.  Condolences may be made to the family at www.BeltonStroup.com.
