Donald Allen Kinman, age 91 of Fairborn, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 31, 1933, in Madison, Indiana, the son of the late Roy and Hazel Kinman.
Donald’s career was highlighted by his work at Southwestern Portland Cement Company for thirteen (13) years. He also dedicated twenty-seven (27) years of service as an engineer for General Motors, contributing significantly to the field through his commitment to excellence.
Despite only having a seventh-grade education, Donald was recognized for his extraordinary intelligence, organizational ability, and financial acumen. His family and friends admired his knack for smart fiscal decisions, which often provided stability and support to those around him.
Donald served as a medical aidman in the United States Army during the Korean War. This experience further shaped his character, instilling in him a deep sense of responsibility and care for others.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Donald was a family-oriented man who treasured the time spent with his grandchildren. A fondness for nostalgia was reflected in his leisure activities, often seen watching old westerns, classic films, and beloved television shows like "Price is Right," "Leave It To Beaver," and "McHale's Navy." His passion for Great Lakes fishing trips with his children created lasting memories and a deep bond within the family.
Known for his kind-hearted personality, Donald had a wonderful sense of humor and a talent for playing the harmonica. His unique blend of warmth, intellect, and playfulness endeared him to many, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and love.
In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Irene (Phillips) Kinman; and son-in-law, Danny Ramos. He is survived by five children, Donald A. Kinman Jr., Regina L. Whittington, Richard L. Kinman, Russel L. (April) Kinman, Diana (Paul Gunton) Ramos; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, Joseph (Shannon), Michael, Desiré (John), Kathleen “Kat”, Ace, and Maggie.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 A.M., Tuesday, January 7, 2024, at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, OH 45324. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial to follow at Byron Cemetery, Fairborn, OH.
Donald Allen Kinman will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched, remembered for his spirit, commitment to family, and the joy he brought into every moment.
