Reverend Diane M. Howard, age 68 of Medway, passed away November 19, 2024 at Miami Valley Hospital. She was born March 20, 1956 in Mishawaka, Indiana, the daughter of Joe “J.R.” and Geraldine “Gerry” (Fitts) Howard. She earned a B.A. in Biblical Literature (cum laude) from Bethel University and a M.A. in Christian Ministries/Church Development (cum laude) from Wheaton College. Diane was the President of the Missionary Church Historical Society, gathering and preserving important documents and historical information. For over 40 years, she served Christ faithfully in the Missionary and Methodist denominations, serving in ten churches and positions, currently at Rona Community Church. Diane was a willing servant as demonstrated by her involvement in children's work, Bible quizzing programs, camps, Bible studies and church events. Diane enjoyed reading, drama and Shakespeare. She had a love for cats, Christmas, and collecting nativity scenes. She is preceded in death by her father, J.R. Howard. Diane is survived by her mother, Gerry Howard; two brothers, Jay (Brenda) Howard, John (Lynn) Howard; two nieces, Lindsey (P.J.) O’Dell, Amalia Howard; nephew, Dylan (Tabi) Howard; great niece and nephew, Lauren and Cameron O’Dell. A funeral service will be held on Sunday November 24, 2024 at 4:00 P.M. at Rona Community Church, 1082 Rona Pkwy., Fairborn, Pastor Jim Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Missionary Church Historical Society, P.O. Box 9127, Ft. Wayne, IN 46899. An Open House Memorial Gathering will be held in the President’s Dining Room at Bethel University, 1001 Bethel Circle, Mishawaka, IN on Friday December 20th, from 4:00 to 7:00pm.
