David Gene Shade

David Gene Shade, age 84 of Fairborn, passed away Monday, May 27, 2024, at Vienna Springs of Dayton. He was born September 18, 1939, the son of the late Paul Eugene and Dallas Louis (Anson) Shade.

David dedicated his entire career to working at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB). His greatest passion in life was flying. He owned a Cessna 172 private plane and was a long-term member of the Flying Angels in New Carlisle. He enjoyed sharing his love of flying with others.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, MaryJo (Rost) Shade; and his sister, Barbara Burrowes. Survivors include three sons, Andrew Shade, William (Carol) Shade, Paul (Toni) Shade; seven grandchildren, Lauren, Natalie, Anna, Tori, Taylor, Tessa, Amelia; his wife’s cousin who was more like her sister, Nancy Lamm; as well as other extended family and friends.

A memorial gathering will be planned for a later date.
